Communications Corp., more commonly known as Innovative Cable
TV St. Thomas-St. John, has been in business since 1966.
It is the oldest cable television system in the Caribbean.
On April 3 1998, Caribbean Communications Corp.was purchased
by Innovative Communications Corporation.
ICC
also acquired the largest cable system on the island of St.
Croix in 1997, which is now Innovative Cable TV St. Croix.
Innovative Cable TV St. Thomas-St. John and Innovative Cable
TV St.Croix hold a 15-year, non-exclusive franchise to provide
cable television services.
The two systems distribute analog
and digital signals and serve over 25,000 customers. ICC
owns and operates four other cable systems in the Caribbean:
St. Maarten Cable TV, BVI Cable TV, Martinique TV Cable and World
Satellite Guadeloupe.
Innovative's British Virgin Islands
Cable TV serves more than 6,000 customers; St. Maarten Cable
TV serves almost 7,000 customers. The
company's cable television businesses in France and the French
islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique are operated through a wholly
owned ICC subsidiary. World Satellite Guadeloupe serves some
27,000 homes and Martinique TV Cable goes to 22,000 homes. Valvision
serves 15,200 customers between Lyon, France and Basel, Switzerland.
